SURFÍNIA

Webcore Games developed SURFÍNIA for Rede Globo, creating a new way for audiences to engage with the story of the soap opera Três Irmãs. Built around an island-shaped board and inspired by the universe of the show, the game offered an interactive adventure.

Players could explore the island’s six beaches, take part in surfing championships, answer questions about the storyline through different challenges, access exclusive content, and win prizes based on their performance. The experience also allowed players to interact with one another, encouraging social engagement and the creation of a community around the game.

At the beginning of the experience, players could customize their avatars by choosing characteristics such as gender, skin tone, eye color, hairstyle, and clothing. To move around the island, players rolled the dice using a mouse gesture. Each space on the board presented a different challenge, and completing it successfully earned players coins that could be exchanged for new clothes and equipment to improve their performance in the surfing championships.

A total of 10 surfing championships were held, one per week. To participate, players had to be on one of the spaces located on the beach where the competition would take place and pay the entry fee using in-game coins.

Players could also surf freely whenever they were on one of the island’s beaches. Free surfing could be used as practice for future championships or simply for fun. Even in this mode, players earned coins based on their performance and accumulated points toward the overall ranking.

At the end of Três Irmãs, the top three players in the overall ranking received prizes. Depending on their performance, players could also unlock achievements and discover exclusive content created by the show’s cast specifically for the game.

The project combined different technologies. The board and user interaction features, such as the dice, community tools, and achievements, were developed in Flash. The surfing game itself was created in Unity, enabling a 3D web-based experience with advanced features for its time.
